Orthez, capital city of Bearn, was Febus's favored court.  Jean Froissart visited him here in 1388.  A bridge crossed the river Pau at Orthez; Febus taxed merchants on it after affording them safe passage through his lands.  The chateau Moncade sat atop a hill, overlooking the entire valley.

In Febus's day, the tower was half again as tall as it is now.  In 1853, the top portion of the tower was destroyed.
